Heedfulness
Appamādo amataṁ padaṁ
Pamādo maccuno padaṁ.
Heedfulness, the path to the Deathless. Heedlessness, the path to death.
Appammattā ne miyyanti
Ye pamattā yathā matā.
The heedful do not die. The heedless, as if already dead.
Etaṁ vesesato ñatvā,
Appamādamhi paṇḍitāti.
Knowing this distinction, the wise are established in heedfulness.
